How we got engaged

Kevin's family has a family cottage in Michigan. Kevin and all of his brothers have grown up going to this cottage every year since they were babies. Actually, his mom and all of her siblings also grew up going to this cottage every year since they were babies.
In August 2013, Kevin brought Kiko with him on his family's anual trip to this special place.
Thankfully, his parents loved the idea and welcomed me with open arms.
We spent a few lazy mornings just hanging out and eating with the family, walking along the beach, and the boys played Jenga BOOM until the middle of the night.
One morning Kevin and I went to exercise on the beach and then went for a long walk.
Then on this walk... the conversation went something like this:

Kevin: "Kiko, will you marry me?"
Kiko: "Yes Kevin. We already talked about this. Do you really need to ask me again?" (Almost annoyed)
Kevin: "no really. Seriously. I asked your parents."
Kiko: "What? No you didn't. My mom doesn't know how to keep secrets. She would have told me."
Kevin: "Well I guess she did. So will you marry me?"
Kiko: (still in disbelief) "yes!! I already told you that!!"
Kevin: "But... ok. So i don't have a ring. There were some complications and I don't want to tell my parents without a ring."
Kiko: "Seriously? We can't NOT tell your parents when you brought me to this special place and asked me here. We are going into town and buying a ring. ANY RING."
Kevin: "....."
Kiko: "SERIOUSLY"
So the two went off to buy a ring in town. That night, Kevin and Kiko told his parents and Kiko called all of her family.
Kevin's family rejoiced, opened some Champagne and told them they wouldn't have let Kevin marry anyone else.
and as it turns out, Kiko's family did know and both of her parents did a great job keeping the secret.
As for the ring bought in Michigan... since it was a rushed event... it ended up giving Kiko a rash so Kevin and Kiko picked out a nice ring together a few weeks later.
Kiko still keeps the original ring in a safe place.
